Teen News Today First Issue

Hello Everybody hope all is well I am here to provide teens a completely unbiased source of today's news and the impacts it will have on the teens and youth of today including the good the bad and the ugly.

The Big Beautiful Bill was signed into Law by 47th President Donald Trump. This bill has many different components and I will dive into some major points. One key point for many young workers is this bill has a provision that eliminates federal income tax on tips, although this sounds amazing which it can be there is some stipulations it states that eligible workers are allowed to deduct up to 25,000 dollars from tips in taxable income for the years 2025-2028. Although this may not directly impact teens considering the earnings requirement this can be a big break for parents and allow them to create more opportunities for their child.

The Big Beautiful Bill also has changes in the student loans system. The changes involved eliminate subsidized loans. These loans were crucial for many students as interest will not accumulate when a college is in a dead or grace period of school. The removal of these loans will cause interest to accrue from day one. The positives of removing subsidized loans are savings for the federal government, in addition another goal of removing these loans is to encourage students to pursue degrees with a higher learning potential and more vital role in society. By removing these loans the governments goal is the save tax payers dollars and to encourage higher grossing potential degrees. The cons however this makes college out of reach for many potential students with this inflated interest rate.

The next change the Big Beautiful Bill makes is increasing the funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The bill raises government funding from 10 billion to over 100 billion by the year 2029. This will make it into the most funded government law enforcement agency in the country. This is extremely controversial and there are many pros and cons. A key pro is ICE raids tend to target illegal criminals who entered the country, these criminals range anywhere from drug smuggling all the way up to crimes such as rape and murder. By removing these individuals from the country the American people are safer. Another pro is the deportation of illegal immigrants creates more jobs for American citizens as deported workers means more jobs for Americans. A con of these raids is often times families are separated and deported and the only crime committed was crossing the border illegally. This is hard for everybody because the process of becoming a legal citizen is long and difficult leaving many to believe their only option is to enter illegally.  A public criticism often said about ICE and mass deportations is that people would rather see these billions of federal funds being put to what they believe as a better use.
